Make your business profile accurate
Keep your business name, phone number, hours and website consistent across Google Business Profile and the directories you control. If you serve customers at their location and do not receive them at an office, set up as a service-area business and hide the address as the platform requires.
Choose categories that describe your real work and never add keywords or city names to the business name. Platforms can suspend profiles that break these rules.
- Audit your name, phone and hours across profiles.
- Configure service areas honestly.
- Remove keyword stuffing from the business name.
Write service and area pages people can use
Create pages for the work you actually do—drain cleaning, water heaters, leak detection, repiping and sewer line work—explaining the problem, your process, what to expect and how to request help.
Mention the areas you genuinely serve, but do not publish dozens of near-identical city pages with swapped names. Search engines treat those as doorway pages and customers find them unhelpful. Real project examples from a neighborhood are more useful than repeated copy.
- Write one strong page per core service.
- Avoid templated city pages with swapped place names.
- Add real project examples with permission.
Earn reviews honestly
Ask every customer for honest feedback after the job using a consistent, simple link. Do not buy reviews, offer incentives that platforms prohibit or ask only happy customers.
Reply to reviews professionally, including critical ones. Keep replies factual and avoid sharing private details about the job or the customer.
- Send a review request after every completed job.
- Never filter requests to only satisfied customers.
- Respond to every review within a set timeframe.
